MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced that it has just completed the best quarter (April-June) in the company's ten-year history. Due in large part to the success of its new "MySQL Network" commercial subscription offering, the privately-held company generated more than twice the revenue than the same period last year.

"As more mainstream IT users become familiar with the benefits of open source software, we continue to see strong, growing adoption of MySQL," said Marten Mickos, CEO of MySQL AB. "Our success in the past quarter demonstrates the overall interest in affordable, scalable and easy-to-deploy database solutions among corporate enterprises and ISVs."
