HP just can’t quit Mark Hurd
Despite the fact that ex Hewlett Packard Chief Executive Officer Mark Hurd has moved on to co president of rival Oracle, the Hewlett Packard board that fired him can not quite seem to let him go.
Hewlett Packard shareholders have sued the company over Hurd's departure, specifically the rather generous severance package that he was offered despite an apparent termination for cause. If only I could get $53 million every time I screwed up by trying to sleep with a contractor! Apparently this strikes investors as being somewhat ludicrous, so the board, surprised, has ordered an investigation into itself to help figure out just what it was thinking when it fired him and forked over all the cash.
If the original debacle had not already convinced you that HP was in pretty poor hands, this latest lunacy should clinch the deal.
