Getting Virtual with Microsoft

Filed in archive Events by Scott Wilson on September 08, 2008

So, I'm out and about today, at Microsoft's Get Virtual virtualization launch event in Bellevue. Just had lunch after a lackluster morning ra-ra event and a ho-hum presentation, following a cursory review of the obligatory yet limited vendor booths. I'll put up a more comprehensive review later on, but if you want to follow along through the day, I'm blogging as I go over on my own site. Given the limited network access here, even that is bound to be rather un-illuminating, however.

Lest you think this is just another Microsoft bashing post, however, let me say that most of what I am negative about today is more to do with the presentation than the subject. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the actual technologies that I've seen, and I think VMWare may have something to be scared of in some markets (which no doubt is the primary goal of this event, shrouded as it may so far be).
