CIO
by Scott Wilson on January 17, 2008

Scott replaces Stuart Scott, ousted from the position last November under circumstances which are still unclear. The role of CIO will once again report to COO Kevin Turner, bringing the position back into its proper slot in the Operations department after a brief foray back under the oversight of Sales, Marketing, and Services CFO Alain Crozier. Tony Scott's pedigree is a good one for the role, having served as CTO at GM and VP for Operation at Bristol-Meyers Squibb... the combination of operational and technical experience is a good foundation for CIOs, many of whom unfortunately rise from the ranks of accounting and general management and suffer unfortunate disconnects between the strategic facets that they know well and the technical ones which sometimes escape them.
Here's hoping that Tony lasts longer than the two years that Stuart managed to hang on to the job!

In order to be considered next time I plan on changing my last name to Scott since that seems to be the main qualification.

I understand that I was in consideration for a time simply because of my first name, but unfortunately that just wasn't enough. I would have filled the application out as "Wilson Scott" had I known.
