The iPhone winds are blowing

AT&T has unveiled new business pricing plans for Apple's iPhone today, furthering the cause of those who are attempting to bring the stylish smartphone further into the corporate fold.

Although the Computerworld article plays on the business plans being more expensive than their consumer counterparts, this is pretty much always the case. Comparing the cited iPhone plans to AT&Ts existing plans reveal some puzzling differences (most notably the SMS restrictions) but on the whole the iPhone packages appear more attractive for the money if anything. Who cares about SMS when you've got e-mail? A $45 a month all you can eat data plan (although I'm sure unlimited doesn't mean unlimited with AT&T anymore than it does with any carrier) shouldn't leave anyone out in the cold.

Also cited in the article are rumors that IBM will soon announce Lotus Notes support for the iPhone. That's another step to corporate adoption, I suppose, but Notes isn't exactly the major player in the corporate market it once was. When Microsoft and Apple roll out Exchange support (oh, all right… if), that's when the device is really on its way into corporate America.

The weakest point of the package for me, however, remains the atrociously slow EDGE data rates that Apple and AT&T have saddled the otherwise excellent device with.

  1. Yes, I do agree with you and it could be considered as a good trend too.

    THANKS.
