Computer world has a special report which identifies the mega trends in the Busienss Intelligence space,
1. Information democracy
Not keeping BI in the hands of the few financial analysts in HQ but spreading accessing/use around across the lenght & breadth of the organisation.
2. Unstructured data
Moving forward data which need to be analyzed on might not be all structured/relational more and more there are going to be free form text, like in blogs and will be images/videos etc.
3. Predictive Analytics
Fact/data based Soothsayers of today. The following situation is to be rectified
For years, business analysts have enjoyed a clear "rearview mirror" picture of the past based on loads of historical data extracted with data-mining tools and massaged with business intelligence reports. The view "through the windshield," however, has largely been based on siloed, simplified roll-ups of those numbers crunched in desktop spreadsheets. With neither the near-real-time access to granular data nor the tools to analyze it, many significant opportunities or pitfalls looming ahead simply can't be anticipated.
More on this at infoworld.
4. Integration
BI Products or solutions will be come and internal part of the enterprise systems, allowing manager to monitor operations on a 24/7 basis.
