A keynonte that i did want to catch was the now famous blackboard key note by Hasso Platnner, today i went to the Sapphire Atlanta Online and got the slide deck and saw webcast.

Below are some of his comments from the similar speech he gave at Software2007,

"As CEO, I've been thinking about how to we can build a sibling of MySAP [in order to deliver] faster innovation.

The project reached a crucial point three years ago where we had to agree that we couldn't do it within our current code base.

And you know what happens when you allow software developers to have a separate code base: You have a new system.

The system has no name yet. It is not announced. But we've started talking about it because we cannot hide it anymore... We have 3,000 people working on it everyday. [They are building] a system that is significantly different from what we have, but also shares as much as possible.

So [the solution became a product split] but the better we do it, the better for the company and the better for our customers."

"So what is different [about A1S]? Here are some of our objectives. One harmonized UI (user interface), with the emphasis on the 'I' - the interaction with the user.

The system should be geared up for in-memory databases and for real time analytics. It should run in cloud computing and on demand. The deployment should be modular... It should live in communities.Development should be community based... And it should support as many standards as possible...

This is not all new, but to package it and bring everything together into one new large enterprise system - large in the terms of coverage and functionality - [is new.]
