TCS and the headcount….

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to hire more people this fiscal. In 2006-07, it added 32,000 people. Going by just the number of employees, TCS is at fifth position globally. S Mahalingam, chief financial officer (CFO), TCS, said the company would soon ramp up headcount to 5,000 people at its second facility in Beijing. "China is a very important market and we hope it will become as big for us as India," he said. TCS has announced its 10 x 10 vision, of reaching revenues of $10 billion by 2010.
With a total headcount of 89,419 people, including employees of subsidiaries, a healthy 9.6% employees are non-Indian. Indications are that TCS will maintain this ratio even after its new hires of over 30,000, this fiscal. Attrition at the country's leading software services exporter is at 11%, up from its norm of 8-9%.
"We are playing in a market where the offshoreable services market is expected to be worth $135 billion by 2010. So, phenomenal growth is possible especially since only 15% of the market has been captured," he added. TCS has announced its 10 x 10 vision, of reaching revenues of $10 billion by 2010.
