Bruce Perens the Open Source Evangelist joined source lab as Vice President. SourceLab sells support and maintenance subscriptions for tested, certified "stacks" of open source infrastructure software, which they provide free of charge. Rather than simply repackaging the unit tests produced by open source communities, the company's rigorous CERT7 testing framework produces a documented, reproducible certification for functionality, scalability, stress response, failover and security.
Perens objective would be to Build New Bridges Between Open Source Developers and Enterprise IT Users, which complements His Leadership Role in the Open Source Developer Community.
Perens, a recognized leader in the open source software community, is the original author of the "Open Source Definition," now widely recognized as the authoritative description of open source software. He is also founder and co-founder of several well-known open source organizations, including the Open Source Initiative (OSI), the Linux Standard Base (LSB), and Software in the Public Interest (SPI). As a member of SourceLabs executive team, Perens is expected to continue his work as a leading open source policy advocate
, as well as support SourceLabs mission to ensure open source systems for enterprise IT departments work dependably together and are wellsupported.
