SAP Meets Web 2.0 - SDN Day Bangaluroo!

I am sitting in a session with the same title run by Hyther from ZOHO ( SaaS delivered Office Application)…Some points from the discussion

  • Collaboration is the key in Web 2.0 World
  • Enterprise Applications are wrong …thier premise is everything is private. (Interesting thought)
  • Enterprise Applications – Lack in sharing knowledge (Not clear)
  • REST API's – Key to making things open …Mashups etc
  • 57% of Amazons revenue comes from the long tail of Books (Books that are not carried by retailers – Barnes & Noble)
  • All tunes on ITUNES have been purchased atleast once
  • Enterprise & Enterprise Users have situated / specific unique needs …..Addressed by non developer – remove dependency on developer
  • New web applications = Do it yourself Web Applications

SAP+ZOHO Demo

  • Muse can consume non SAP Apps data sources
  • Idea ? – mySAP + Zoho Integrated – Single Interface, Single source for documents + sheets + other personal applications
  • Zoho Creator – Truly interative development (excellent for prototypes – just get it done)
  • Deluge – Compares it with Salesforces web programming environment
  • Deluge – Write in Deluge / Revise in Java
  • ZOHO Creator – Focussed on Long tail of application – Situated Apps.

I have been an admirer of Zoho for a long time now, i have multiple times used thier writer to collaborate on documents. I am really proud that there is such a cool/fantastic company blossoming from Chennai / India. Keep up the great work guys.

On the session – Guys it was a good demo of Zoho product, but i think it would be better if your demo focussed/highlight more the SAP+ZOHO integration …may be even pick a business process (even the Shai Aggasi routine of leave approval / rejection) – particularly since you are highlighting duet type integration and also show how seemlessly the data can move between them.Basically highlighting the capabilities / facilities provided by SAP to support for a lack of better work Mashups.

Good dicussions. Also, I am reading an exciting new book: China and the new world order: how entrepreneurship, globalization, and borderless business are reshaping China and the world, by the spoken Chinese journalist George Zhibin Gu. It is the very best book on Chinese multinationals, hightech development and politics as well as global tech, job and manufacturing transfers. One aspect may interest you in particular: the Chinese hightech development in relation to global research and development.

I take full responsibility on the connections that were made available otherwise I think Hyther and I could have really shown you some interesting things. Next time we’ll be a lot more careful about specific connection needs and you’ll be able to see the current demos in the next couple of weeks once I am back in Germany and able to work on my development setup to do some screen cams!

It was great having you there!
