SAP Customers Rely on Oracle RAC - Ovum

In a recent whitepaper of Ovum sponsered by Oracle titled "Customers Depend on Oracle Real Application Clusters for High Availability and Scalability" discusses the dynamics between two competitors who are complementary on another front...Close to two-thirds of SAP's installed base of applications run on Oracle databases, according to industry estimates. The bulk of those installations involve individual oracle databaselinks servers, but that profi le has been changing as more customers adopt Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC).

"More than 8,400 enterprise customers have deployed RAC environments in production, and a wide range of independent software vendors-SAP included, of course-have validated their applications for Oracle RAC," says the report. "Oracle RAC has already become the clustering technology of choice for a growing number of SAP's customers."
