Hello, my name is Scott Wilson and I will be writing for the CIO Weblog starting today.

Although I am not a CIO, I am the owner and principal consultant at Indigo Moon Systems Consulting, based out of Seattle, Washington, and I spend most of my time dealing with the worries and concerns that CIOs have. IMS primarily performs IT Management consultinglinks-reading the tea leaves for technology managers, CIOs, and other executives-so I am interacting with CxO types and dealing with their concerns regularly. And while many of them are absorbed in the particular exigencies of their business or industry, I like to think I am afforded the flexibility to think about the larger picture.

Many people think "Fortune 500" when they think "CIO" but our focus at IMS is the small to medium business market. I happen to feel that is the broader audience, and the source of tomorrow's Fortune 500 CIO corps... at the risk of being obvious, there are at most 500 CIOs in the Fortune 500, after all, while there are thousands and thousands of smaller organizations out there, most of them with their eye on expansion and their own not insignificant challenges in the IT department. So this blog is for you, whether you own the title or merely aspire to it.

I am taking over here for Prashnath Rai, who did an able job for the past year or so-I read the blog regularly during his tenure and got quite a bit out of it. But if you, too, are a long time reader, you can expect some changes in the content being offered here. While Prashnath focused mostly on bringing you the latest scoops, I expect to spend less time looking for breaking news and more time focused on analysis and recommendations. After all, as a consultant, that's how I am geared. And while I am not above slipping in the occasional quick link to a breaking story, you can generally expect to hear about things a little bit later here, but with more reflection on and analysis of the implications, rather than just the news itself. After all, that's the real value to the CIO, isn't it? The nature of the position in most companies doesn't leave enough time for breadth and perspective, and that's what I hope to offer here, in a concise package.

So, if you're still watching the RSS feed from before, it's about to get busy again, and if you're just coming across the place, welcome! We'll get settled in at the same time.
