Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance leader (refered in an earlier post here), recently announced it has been positioned in the Visionary quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse Database Management Systems by Gartner, Inc.

In the July 2006 Gartner report titled "Hype Cycle for Data Management," it projected that data warehouse appliances would achieve mainstream market adoption within two to five years.

According to Gartner, "Visionaries have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they still can improve in terms of optimizing service delivery." In the 2006 Data Warehouse Database Management Systems Magic Quadrant report, Gartner states, "Although this is a mature market with the full attention of large vendors seeking to make inroads with scale and innovation, smaller entrants often deliver a more focused, innovative solution."
