More iPhone inroads to the corporate world

SAP, long a provider of mobile solutions to integrate it's CRM software with a mobile work force, has announced that they will now be providing software for Apple's iPhone as well. In fact, they will be developing the iPhone version of their new sales-force automation software before rolling it out for other mobile platforms.

After the initial splash and questions as to the applicability of the iPhone in the business world, there has been a slow but steady trend of announcements and accomodations by various companies integrating the device into their mobile solutions. Despite Apple's initial resistance to allowing third-party developers any formal access to the device, a surge of solutions have appeared (both legitimate and not) allowing corporate users to conduct their business with the device.

Now if only Apple would ditch AT&T's abhorrently slow EDGE network and get a real data service for the thing, then we would really start seeing some business being done with the thing.
