More analysis suggests skipping Vista

This time from Jason Hiner at TechRepublic in his blog appropriately titled "Tech Sanity Check." Hiner suggests that Microsoft will actually encourage this course of action by accelerating the release of Windows 7 and, in effect, sweeping the entire Vista debacle under the rug.
Hiner doesn't have any hot inside scoop, of course, but his analysis is sound and he presents all the reasons that it would be in Microsoft's interests, as well as those of its customers, to do so.
Microsoft, of course, has to maintain the strong public face of Vista for marketing purposes (god forbid anyone in the tech industry admit an error…) but I think the logic of the situation increasingly suggests that CIOs take a good hard look at skipping Vista and weighing the options that present themselves in the 2009/2010 timeframe instead.
