KPMG, Conducted a survey of 600 Organisations across 22 countries and published the Global IT Project Management Survey. I was just flipping through the same , below is a summary of the findings at a glance section, more from the survey to follow.

Findings at a Glance:

  • Increased commitment to achieve business results through project outcomes

  • Compliance and performance initiatives drove and continue to drive increases in project activity, budgets and complexity

  • Definition of project success evolvedlinks, No longer traditional measures of on time and on budget apply. Now success is meeting projects (business) benefits.Success rates of project - Improving trend.

  • With the new definition of success, Success or Failure has become a matter of interpretation.

  • Flawed Governance model, Executives involved in selecting and approving project, but rarely involved in delivery

  • Inadequate benefits management processes (to measure project benefits) leading to unquantifiable degree of benefits leakage.

  • Where/when benefits are measured its identified that - There is forfieture of up to 1/4 of promised business benefits across the project portifolio.
