IBM Leader in Application Development Software - Gartner

IBM recently announced that analyst firm Gartner, Inc. has ranked IBM as the worldwide market share leader in the application development and project and portfolio management marketplace based on total software revenue for 2005.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that IBM maintained its leadership in the application development software market.

According to the independent report, IBM was the leading market share vendor in total software revenue with 25.4 percent market share, more than double the share of its nearest competitor. Gartner also stated that among the top 10 vendors in the Project and Portfolio Management market space, IBM grew faster than any of its competition. The worldwide application development and project and portfolio management software market grew 6.7 percent in 2005 to more than $7 billion.

Gartner's Market Share Report analyzes the total software revenue for vendors in the application development and project and portfolio management marketplace.
