SOA

First, an aside; do you think that I wind up putting up a bunch of posts about one company within a week because I somehow become attuned to their name particularly, or do you think that there is some concerted effort in corporate PR departments to put out a bunch of news about their organization in large bursts?
At any rate, yes, here's another HP post.
As noted here in October, the company has been working hard to expand their services business, and the latest push is revolving around SOA governance software and services.
The jury is still out on the packaged SOA products that many major vendors are rushing to bring to market, but HP may have a good thing going in having both a trendy buzzword to sell the software, and a consulting group to help implement it. Consultants, particularly those operating under the auspices of product vendors, are expected perhaps primarily to be salespeople, but it's also possible in this instance at least that they might deliver real value in helping to adapt the packaged SOA products to client corporations particular requirements and situations. If anyone reading this has happened to have any experience working with them on an SOA project, I'd be extremely interested to hear the results.
