Happy Anniversary EDS
Filed in archive General by prashanth on July 08, 2006

July 03rd was the 44th anniversary of Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS). It was founded by H. Ross Perot.
Together, he and the people of EDS created the information technology (IT) outsourcing industry. And, over the past four decades, EDSers pioneered practices that are now centerpieces
of the IT services industry. They include systems management, systems integration, centralized transaction processing, and the world's largest private digital voice, data and video network (Navy Marine Corps Intranet).
Today, EDS remains a leader in the technology services industry it invented. That's evidenced from its first contracts with Collins Radio and Frito-Lay in 1962 to the company's nearly $20 billion in annual revenues in 2005 to major accomplishments in 2006, including the US $380 million MphasiS acquisition, a $1.7 billion IT services pact with Kraft and the $3.8 billion IT services deal General Motors.
