EDS teamed up with EDS Agility Alliance partner, Oracle, to modernize Surveyor, a key credit processing application in EDS' financial services portfolio. EDS Technology Alliance partners Intel and Fujitsu also contributed to the modernization of Surveyor.
"We re-architected Surveyor to provide operational savings and to enable faster reaction times for mission critical application enhancements," said Tom Egan, vice president of Service Delivery for EDS. "Modernizing the Surveyor mainframe application to a low cost, high performance agile platform will yield a quick, positive return on the financial investment."
"Oracle worked closely together with EDS to provide a modernized solution to meet both EDS and and EDS' client needs," said John Gawkowski, vice president of Platform Technology Solutions for Oracle. "Oracle was pleased to be able to support the modernization of Surveyor to an Oracle Grid and SOA architecture. The move to modern SOA technologies such as BPEL, resulted in the elimination of a significant amount of custom legacy code in the modernized application. This will result in increased flexibility and overall lower cost of ownership to EDS and the client."
