CEO-CIO Train Wreck

This IDC research finding was from a survey of business executives, including CEOs, CFOs and other Line-of-Business (LOB) executives, as well as of CIOs. The question we asked this group was a very simple one, about their views on IT usage within their business: "In your opinion, how aggressively should your organization be using IT?" The response choices were: More Aggressively, Less Aggressively, and Same as Today.

Excerpt from a IDC blog post:

This is a truly scarylinks slide. Yes, it's very good news that CEOs and CFOs feel they should be using IT more aggressively to improve their businesses' performance, with other LOB executives (Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc.) feeling only slightly less bullish. But it is more than a little worrisome that over 50% of CIOs - the execs tasked with leading their companies' use of IT - disagreed with the idea of using IT more aggressively. Indeed, about 20% feel that their company should use IT less aggressively.
