Acquisitions Abound

Acquisition 1Sun Microsystems Inc. will acquire Storage Technology Corp. in a transaction valued at about $4.1 billion.
Together, the companies have total annual revenue of $13 billion.
The aim of the deal is to create a company that can offer a comprehensive range of data management services to help companies handle security, storage, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements, the companies said.
Under the agreement, Sun will pay $4.1 billion for StorageTek. In turn, StorageTek investors will receive $37 per share in cash. Brad Feld has some interesting thoughts on the same check them out .
Acquisition 2eBay
Inc. continued its recent acquisition spree yesterday by agreeing to buy comparison shopping site Shopping.com Inc. for about $620 million in cash.
EBay - annual revenue of $3.3 billion in 2004 and net income of $778.2 million
Shopping.com - $99 million in revenue and had net income of $12.2 million.
The move by the two companies, is designed to benefit eBay's sellers by giving them access to a new sales channel and a new set of buyers, while Shopping.com will be improved by the addition of eBay's listings on its site, the companies said.
